Guess the drop
Guessing what artist you’re hearing. Since we’re a group of fanatic IDM enthusiasts for decades we’ve all got a large collection of rare IDM records.
So Anne came up with the “Guess the drop” game. You record a small bit of IDM and post it in the group app.
1: Guess the drop
2:Take a snippet of a (IDM) song before and after the beat drops and post it here
3:Enjoy the others crawling deep though the crevices of recollection.
Winner will receive eternal praise and gets to post a new “guess the drop”
We’ve got the venue
The Muziekgieterij loved our plan and decided to give us the main venue on Saturday May 31st 2025.
We’re so excited. This was the venue we wanted. The sound is amazing and the atmosphere is superb.
This pop venue has been based at Timmerfabriek on Boschstraat, on the edge of Maastricht’s city centre, since 2013.
Muziekgieterij is committed to providing a solid foundation for the music scene in Maastricht and the wider Meuse-Rhine Euroregion that is accessible to everyone. From pop and rock to indie and urban, and from emerging singers to well-known bands: Muziekgieterij is driven by a passion for music.
Why the name DADADA?
It’s Ana who came up with the name DADADA after a superb night in Brussels. We all came to see Autechre performing in the Ancien Belgique. It was inspirational for sure.
It was a classic case of old friends getting reconnected by music. We’re all big IDM fans and we couldn’t mis this performance for sure. Anne and I have been friends for a long time. We organised many experimental electronic music parties in the pervious decade. One of the artists we invited to play was Victor Popescu (Brazda Lui Novac, now Mathmatrix). We had a few amazing events in Maastricht with IDM artists. A fun one was in the Bonnefanten Museum where we organised a IDM night and had the brilliant idea to use a fog cannon, 5 minutes later 3 firetrucks came to put out the fire. We all learn on the way and got wiser. Somehow we lost contact. Life happend. Busy making a career. Forgetting what the thing are that makes you happy.
Getting back to the birth of DADADA. During the concert we met Victor again and we hit it of like we did in the past. Victor said “You must organise an IDM event again in Maastricht” and that got us thinking. How little IDM events there are to visit. How much we mis the live performances by great artists. We talked all night. Ana (victors girlfriend) confirmed all the time by saying DA DA DA. the next day we decided to go for it. I asked Ana what the name should be.
